When Debbie and Nick told me that they wanted to have an elegant yet rustic feel to their wedding, I knew that they would love the Monastery just outside of Sotogrande. So, when they came over for a venue viewing visit, I made it the first venue for us to go and see so that they could compare it to all the others we saw. And they loved it, ultimately choosing it for their rural wedding in Spain.
The hotel has their own in house catering so for Debbie & Nick it was only a case of choosing whether they wanted to have a three course meal or a more relaxed buffet and bbq style for their dinner.
Opting for the BBQ style, they could then focus on the other aspects of their rural wedding in Spain, including the photography, choosing Andreas Holm who captured these stunning shots on the day!
Natasha Johnson was their celebrant and gave them a beautiful ceremony which also included accompanying music from one of their close friends on the keyboard, and a rendition of Love is All You Need, sung by the entire wedding!
Wanting to add some aspects of the Spanish culture they added a Spanish guitarist and Flamenco dancers for the cocktail hour and the guests absolutely loved getting involved and dancing along.
The area for dinner at the Monastery is beautiful and covered with fairy lights and chandeliers, it is magical as dusk sets in. Guests were asked to make their way to dinner while Debbie and Nick took two minutes together, sampling some of the delicious canapés. Once the guests had taken their seats, the DJ kicked up the beat and Stormzy’s Vossi Bop played over the speakers announcing Debbie and Nick’s entrance to dinner.
As the wedding took place at the end of October, Debbie & Nick decided on warm winter colours and deep reds, burgundies and soft greens were their chosen palette for the flowers – an ideal choice for that time of year for a rural wedding in Spain.
As always, thank you to all our wonderful suppliers and a big thanks to our team!
